Lisnardo ''Buster'' Herrera
October 10, 1912 - March 16, 2005



Lisnardo "Buster" Herrera, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, went to be with God and joined his wife of 68 years, Carlotta. He died peacefully surrounded by his family on March 16, 2005 at the age of 92. He was born on October 10, 1912 in Goose Creek, Texas to Eugene and Guadalupe Herrera.

He was a man of unending resolve and rose from a humble beginning to be owner and president of Buster Herrera Construction Company. As a young man, he was the representative for the Mexican American laborers at Humble Oil, Baytown, Texas. In the 1950’s he was the largest Juke Box owner and operator in the state of Texas. In the 1970’s Buster was elected to be president of the Mexican American Contractors Association. In 1971 as an 8A contractor, he was the first Mexican American to receive a roofing contract at Johnson Space Craft Center. Buster was always ready to help and give guidance to the many people that seeked his wisdom and advice.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife; parents; brothers, Lisandro, Lionel, Raymond, Oliver, Ray, Cristobel, and Angel; sisters, Ofelia Cisneros, Thelma Salmeron, Hilda Villalovas, and Emilia Vargas. He is survived by his children, Norma Rosales and husband Tino, Robert Herrera and wife Ofelia, Jerry Herrera, and Sharon Humbert and husband Scott; grandchildren, Rosana Thedford and husband Monte, Nicholas Rosales, Andrea Parks, Rolando Herrera, Jason Armenta and wife Aron, Ofi Vujasinovic and husband Vuk, Sofia Herrera, Vincent Herrera, Lisa Bodden and husband Chris, Victor Herrera, Vareck Herrera, Sebastian Humbert, and Samantha Humbert; great grandchildren, twins, Austin and Evan Parks, Jared Bodden, Morgan and Adysen Armenta; brother-in-law, Frank Rodriguez; sister-in-law, Frances Herrera; and numerous nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. He is also survived by his loyal caretaker, Dora Garcia ad the staff at Westbury Place whom he grew so fond of and appreciative of their attentive care.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2005 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Earthman’s Downtown Chapel, 2420 Fannin. Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2005 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 4015 Sherman St. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
